Education Omi presents
an exhibition of mixed media animal sculptures

At The Education Pavilions in The Fields Sculpture Park
October 26 - 30, 2011

Reception October 29, 4:30 - 6:30pm (during the Halloween event!)

Omi International Arts Center is pleased to announce its first exhibition of student work at the Education Pavilions, located in The Fields Sculpture Park, from October 26 - 30, 2011. Presented by Education Omi, a solo showing of mixed media 'animal' sculptures by Eli Merritt will inhabit the space. Using found objects in conjunction with materials such as wax, clay, fabrics, melted plastics, and wire, Merritt has created a series of assemblage creatures including an 8 ft. shark, and illuminated jellyfish, a tiny deer, and a praying mantis that balances on knife-points.

Through this, and future student exhibitions, Education Omi aims to bring to light its potential, as part of both the local and global arts community, to encourage and promote hands-on education of young artists. By providing a 'start to finish' experience in the exhibition process, we can being to address the somewhat precarious void between emerging student and professional artist.
